Gladys (Keeney) Fuhrman
Auburndale, Florida
Gladys and her husband, Albert, have lived in Florida for twenty-five years, and they presently live in Auburndale. They met in high school and, “will celebrate 50 wonderful years in 2004.” They have two children. “Teresa works in revenue accounting for Watkins Motor Lines, Lakeland, Florida, and Eric is a bus driver and P.E. Assistant for Charter School of Polk County, FL. He also coaches in soccer and basketball youth leagues in Auburndale, FL.” They also have two grandsons. “Samuel and Coulton are both active in youth sports and excellent students in a local Charter School.”
Gladys was a hard lines and kitchen cabinet buyer for a wholesale and home improvement company in the South. Albert was a master machinist for a national citrus company with a branch in Florida. They are both retired. Her hobbies are gardening, collectables (covered bridges and their history), reading, and attending sports activities.
They enjoy attending NASCAR; major league baseball, basketball, and football games; high school and college games; live performances of major entertainers, Broadway type musical performances, local band concerts, flower shows, county fairs, and events involving their children and grandchildren.
Her favorite teacher at EHS was Mrs. Jones, and Mary Menges got her vote for most effective teacher. She sometimes thinks about the good old days, and she misses, “Slower pace … not the crime and assaults … you did not have to be looking over your shoulder to see who may be in your area to harm you!” She does appreciate our modern technology particularly in the medical field.
Gladys is proud of and thankful for … “Having two wonderful children and their successes, and having two beautiful grandsons to share life with.”
Her message for her classmates is … “Continue striving for the best each day and you will be rewarded. The best to each one.”
Gladys took several computer and management courses at Travis VoTech and Polk Community College.
